You may have seen #CharityTuesday trending on Twitter, or popping up on your Instagram feed, but what is it and how do you get involved?

Established by the voluntary organisation Lovebox, Charity Tuesday is a way of encouraging people to donate to charity and raise awareness of issues. Every month, Lovebox choose a different charity to promote and share the love of giving.

Tuesday is no longer just the day that follows Monday, but has been revolutionised and transformed into a day of charitable giving and generosity.

So, whether you are an expert at charitable giving or a charity newbie, we’ve come up with some effortless ways you can give to charity and from an early age begin to build a solid foundation of generosity.

1. Donate

Everybody needs a closet cleanse once in a while, when all your hangers are used up and your draws are bursting open it’s a telling sign to have a clear out.

Donating clothes or toys to your local charity shop or Salvation Army is a fantastic way of helping others. You should ask the rest of your family to get involved too, we’re sure your parents always have things they don’t need – which others would benefit from.

A rewarding activity for the whole family.

2. Help others

It may sound simple, but putting others before yourself shows a lot about someone’s character.

This can be anything from helping your parents take the bins out, to assisting your neighbour mow their lawn or baking some yummy cakes for your classmates.

Doing kind and generous acts for other people, instills the important lesson… ‘Treat others how you wish to be treated’.

It’s the little things that make a big difference.

3. Choose your own charity

There are lots of different charities available; sometimes it can be difficult to know which ones to donate to.

Instead, why not pick a charity which you are passionate about and donate your time and effort to supporting them.

For example, if you are an animal lover and receive a regular allowance or pocket money from your parents, you could put some of it towards buying pet food and donate it to your local shelter, helping the animals in need.

Here at nimbl, we support the Memusi Foundation, who work directly with communities in Kenya and Tanzania to provide hope through education for young people.

If you support a particular charity and take part in regular charitable giving, you can email [email protected] and let us know!
