Hey, future tech stars! Want to try coding but don't know where to start? Or maybe you’ve already started, and you’re ready to take it to the next level? Well, we’ve got some exciting news for you! nimbl is teaming up with Young Coders, a competition that’s perfect for beginners and all about encouraging young people to get creative with coding. And guess what? This year, the theme is "Budgeting Better."

nimbl is Sponsoring Young Coders: A Chance to Show Off Your Coding Skills!

So, what’s the competition about?

Young Coders is a chance for you to dive into coding, no experience required, and create something awesome. Whether you're just getting started or looking for a fun challenge, this competition gives you the space to learn and build. You’ll get to design and create a game around managing money, which is not only fun but super useful for your future. Imagine building a game that helps people learn how to budget, save, or plan their finances. Pretty cool, right?

Young Coders is open to kids aged 7 to 13 years old who are being guided by an educator in a school setting, it can also be done at home with a parent. Talk to your teacher and see if this is something your class could get involved in. If you don’t have a school to enter through, no problem—you can still take part! But keep in mind, if you win, you’ll need to nominate a school to receive the prize money. The winning team will receive £200 for their school!

If you get involved, you could also earn a CREST Award – a nationally recognised STEM certificate that’s recognised across schools and even universities. This could look amazing on your CV and give you a head start if you want to pursue more tech projects in the future!

Why is this important?

Coding is everywhere. It’s used in video games, websites, apps, and even the tech that powers your phone. But here’s the thing: coding isn’t just about learning how to build websites or make apps. It’s about learning problem-solving, creativity, and logical thinking, all skills that will help you in almost anything you do, whether it's in tech or another career.

nimbl’s role in this competition

We’re super proud to sponsor this competition because we believe that kids like you are the future of technology. Whether you want to be a game designer, a software engineer, a finance algorithm writer, or something else in the tech world, coding is a skill that’ll help you get there. That’s why we’re supporting Young Coders and helping bring out the tech leaders of tomorrow.

How to get involved

Teachers, parents, or even you can register your interest now to get started. Once you’ve signed up, you’ll have access to free resources that can help you as you create your project. Whether you're working on it in school, after school in a club, or at home with your parents, the resources are here to help you succeed.

The competition kicks off in January 2025, and you’ll have until June 2025 to get your projects finished. Once you’re done, your work will be judged, and the winners will be announced. So, if you're ready to take on the challenge and see what you can build, now’s the time to get started!

So, what are you waiting for? Sign up today, start building your game, and maybe you’ll walk away with a CREST Award and a £200 prize for your school. It’s time to code, create, and show the world what you can do!
