With October half term looming and the weather… well, shall we say typically “English”, as parents you are probably racking your brains to think of a week’s worth of fun filled activities that will fill your child’s face with sheer enjoyment…
Well, look no further as we have scoured the web for fabulous ideas to save you the time (and money)!

The country’s capital is a great place to spend the day exploring. We know what you’re thinking… a day out in London sounds expensive, but in actual fact there’s some fantastic things to do without breaking the bank. Did you know the Science and the National History Museums are FREE to enter…? What better way to fill a day that finding out the answers to some of your biggest history and nature questions – we’re sure you won’t be disappointed!
Most local cities provide entertainment and activities during half term for families and children, so it’s time to get organised and find out what’s on in your local area.
For example, why not get spooky with different Halloween activities – in Stratford-upon-Avon, a Halloween Festival runs during the whole month of October. Held on Halloween Street at the Creaky Cauldron and Magic Alley attraction, it provides a variety of weird and wonderful activities for the whole family.
Also, don’t forget to check out your local libraries and community centres, from rhyme time to crafty activities – there is always something worth attending locally to keep the family entertained.
Nature is at it’s best during Autumn and provides heaps of ways to keep the children busy.
Leaf painting is an easy activity that children of all ages will enjoy and a short stroll outside to collect nature’s finest pieces will provide hours of fun and creative enjoyment.
If you want to get really organised, why not also collect some pine cones and decorate with glitter and paint… which make fantastic Christmas tree decorations!
If you’re a budding Nigella Lawson or future Gordon Ramsey, why not spend some time whipping up some spooky delights. The BBC website is filled full of different ways to get creative in the kitchen, ranging from Toffee Apple Muffin recipes to different ways to use Pumpkin and Sticky Bonfire Toffees (Just remember not to eat them all at once)!
