With an increasing number of children suffering in silence from Mental Health Issues, isn’t it time we stepped up and helped children deal, face and conquer their personal battles?
Mental health in general is a difficult issue to tackle even with adults, so where do we begin with children, where there is no ‘one size fits all’ answer.
The Duchess of Cambridge, an advocate for Children’s Mental Health, describes childhood as ‘a time where we explore our personalities, discover the potential that lies within us and learn how we be ourselves.’ It has never been more prevalent that as parents, teachers and carers, we work together to provide a support network where children can reach out and find help for any issues they may be dealing with.
There is mounting pressure on children, especially from social media depicting a ‘false’ reality, which may cause children to feel insecure in their own skin. But the more we talk about these issues, the more that children will realise that what they see on the internet and on social media, doesn’t always represent the truth.
Supporting Safer Internet Day, there’s no better time to talk to family and friends about the safe, responsible and positive use of technology – which can help to make the internet a better place for every user.
Children’s Mental Health Awareness week lasts from the 5th – 11th February 2018, and there are lots of ways to get involved with various activities taking place, which can be explored more on their dedicated website.
Let’s work together to ensure the children of today grow up to become the best versions of themselves.
