Your back to school checklist

Starting the new school year well...

With the September term creeping up, are you ready to get back into the school routine?

We know it can be a big shock after a lovely 6 week holiday, but being prepared and putting your best foot forward will put you in good stead for starting the new school year well.

Why not take a look at some of our top tips for being ‘September ready’…

Get back into a routine

During the summer holidays, you may have got used to an extra hour in bed, but come early September, all of that will come to an end.

Rather than having a shock waking up on the first day back of term and feeling tired and exhausted, we recommend getting back into your school routine a week beforehand.

This will mean when your alarm goes off at 7am in the morning you can jump out of bed with a big smile on your face rather than reaching for the snooze button.

Prep the night before

Being organised is the best way forward, so we advise that you sort out all of your essentials the night before.

A great idea is to make a check list of everything you think you need and then go through it.

Your new notepad, pencil case and calculator should be packed in your bag. Did the teachers give you any school holiday homework? – if so, that should definitely be done and not forgotten.

Hopefully you are going down your list with lots of ticks, check, check and check again!

Have a good breakfast

Aptly named the ‘most important meal of the day’, breakfast is one not to be skipped!

Instead of feeling the hunger pangs kick in at 10am, start your day 10 minutes earlier and make time for a nice healthy breakfast to kickstart your morning.

Whether you are a cereal fan or like something a bit fruitier, a yummy serving of goodness will work wonders on your morning brain power!

Plan your commute

If you are starting a new school, or returning to an existing school it’s best to take a look at your route to school in advance.

Sometimes there can be unexpected road works, or changes to your journey, which may influence your ETA (Estimated Time of Arrival).

It’s always better to be safe not sorry, and no-body wants to be late for registration on the first day back – that’s for sure.

Make a good impression

If it is your first day at a new school you will bound to be meeting lots of new faces so it’s important to make a good first impression with the colleagues you will be sharing at least the next 5 years with.

But wait…this doesn’t stop with classmates, but should also be extended to the teaching staff, whom you will learn from for the duration of your studies at your chosen school.

So, from all of us at team nimbl, we wish you all a big good luck for going back to school!
